Application Monday #1

Alright folks, this is the very first application Monday. I am going to flip through my notebook and offer some application points from the past few weeks. Sometimes I may just share what the Lord is teaching me that particular week. You will read the application points, and then YOU will leave a comment, and you will give me some feedback on some application going on in your life, important things to remember, to contemplate, whatever. Or you may want to comment on the importance of these points. Remember, it does NOT have to be 5 or 6.. it can be just one! I will post them, and then present them maybe Wednesday or so.... This will be good for everyone's spiritual walk. So, here we go!!!

• If Jesus Christ is God, then HE ALONE is worthy of my worship as the only way of salvation.
  
• His call to Holiness is a call to persue his perfection and purity of His grace.


• Calling Christians to Live like Christians is NOT legalism.. but absolute freedom!


• Don't be a hypocrite in your love! Let it be genuine.


• Act in Love.. Look for ways to be a servant
• Invest in the Life of God's people!

Lunch with Family

This Weekend has been very different.

To let you know first and foremost:

Everyone is in town because my grandfather.. (My dads father) was admitted last Wednesday and had a pacemaker put in... and is losing some blood. He is doing better, but they are still going to do a scope thing tomorrow, and try to see where he is losing blood, if he is losing any at all. So, since he was admitted into Lewis Gale, which is 5 minutes away,

family has gathered here to see him in the hospital.

He has just been moved from Critical Care to a normal room!

That is wonderful news because visitation was very strict in the other unit.

Today after church we went to the hospital, but

visitation was over when we got there, so we went out for lunch!

Mama Maria's prepared us a nice lunch.

It has been SOO nice to see everyone here. And even better before Christmas! Darren and Kathy live 1 hr and 20 minutes away, and Kelly and her husband Jimmy live near Darren and Kathy...

My dad and Sheila live 45 minutes away, and Shirley lives about 45 minutes away also...

so, no one was real close to home. . .

I am just glad that my grandad pulled through well, and is going to be going home in a couple days!

Oh.... and..... off the topic completely.......

Nick Shaffer's parents came to church today!!!!! This is huge...

Those of you who don't know who Nick Shaffer is,

he is our pastor who has been preaching for 15 years, and his parents have

never come to church to see him preach, and TODAY THEY WERE THERE!

This is a great day.

I am greatful that I got to see them there.

Hospital News...

I got a call yesterday from my dad...

and My grandfather, (my dads dad), Myles, is in the hospital.

He had some trouble breathing, and they took him to the hospital to find out that

he was having some heart issues, and needed to be sent to Lewis Gale.

They brought him to Lewis Gale, and they put a pacemaker in

this morning. He came out of the surgery fine, and doing well.

Although, the situation was a serious one,

I am glad to be able to see my family here!!!

We took Shirley to dinner lastnight, and brought her to see my home for the first time!

We had a great time with her. I am sure that she was glad to get away from that hospital, too!

I am going to go to the hospital in a little while,

maybe I sneak a pic of my great grandmother....

she is cute, but she is FIESTY!

Anyway, if you could just keep my grandfather's soul in your prayers,

He is not saved, and he is well aware... he wants nothing to do with God or those preacher people!

other pants that have fit him quite like these since he was 5 apparently!

I ran across this pic on my computer, and I thought.... that would be funny to put on the blog. We actually took this picture!!! These are two crcikets.. (or maybe even grasshoppers) getting it on at the Precious Moments museum in Missouri. No kidding. . .

My Saturday Lover Boy...

I was invited to see a movie on Saturday, WHILE I WAS CLEANING THE HOUSE... and that meant that movie time would kick the cleaning off to another day. . and I had a dilemma! I could
(a) Go to the movie with dear friend, Suzanne
(b) Say no, and continue to vacumn and clean our tiolet.

Knowing that my husband would prefer choice (b) since our house was near to roanoke market building condition!( JUST KIDDING..... ) I knew he would want me to clean. So I run out to the yard skipping... he is on the mower... and he turns it off and I say: 'Honey, Honey,.... suzanne has invited me to see a movie!!" I was wide eyed with a big smile... he says: "What time??" and I say: "3:00" "What time is it?" he says? I say "Uh... 1:30" knowing that he is probably going to say: "FORGET IT, NO WAY... THE HOUSE IS GROSS!" ...... he says: "Go ahead..." and then I was in another predicament........

Dennis is a very tidy person, and he was already being very gracious not getting upset that it hadnt been thoroughly cleaned in awhile... so when he was giving me the go ahead to go see a movie, and not clean... I had to decide what I was going to do!

I decided not to go, because he deserved a nice clean home, and I knew Id be happy to give him that.

Turns out, sometimes we just need to know we can, so we can choose not to.... bizzarre creatures we are!!!

A Shower for Baby...

but a shower of prayers and even tips!!....

Sunday, October 5, 2008 I threw Erin a baby shower. I organized the shower with the help of Bekka who graciously let us use her home.

I had the ladies create a prayer for Erin, Nathan & Baby and decorate it very pretty....
and boy do I know some creative ladies.

The goal was for Erin to be able to keep and cherish these heartfelt prayers for her family.

Task #2 was to make a tip.

Everyone made up a tip for each child they have at their current age. Or a good marriage tip to keep things fresh.

So, some made 1 card, some made 5...

I will put these in order, so that she will have a bundle of tips helpful for a span from 0-23 years of age. . .

Still Busy at Work......


This party was a blast to throw. I hope that Erin will love the things that we made for her for many years to come. I hope that those of you that could come enjoyed yourselves.
