The daily dialogues from the Kennedy-Maggi emails

I have just got to share this hilarious exchange of emails Pat Kennedy and I have been sending each other. We have been doing this for two days, and I just laugh hysterically every single time I open up an email!

To set this up for you, let me tell you how this got going. I have been helping him with his blog for his practice… and in communication with it we had been emailing all of this stuff 20 times a day back and forth and back and forth. . So yesterday morning (Thursday morning) I get this very first email: and it just snowballed from there…. So for two days Pat and I have been sending these emails about NOTHING….

Another One of My Favorite Things...

 

I went to the grocery store on Sunday, and I was specifically looking for some snacks that I could take with me to school because if I don't start packing some snacks, Dennis and I are going to go broke from my Hot Chocolate/sandwich purchases at that cute little RHEC deli I told you all about...

Well.. did I not just find something stinkin' delicious! This is dark chocolate Chex Mix! The only problem is: they don't make the bag big enough! I LOVE it! (Dr. Pat, don't strangle me...) Man, is it good! You must go out and try it!

"Another Rule, Mrs. Shannon????"

I have had a wonderful week substituting at the Child Development Center at our church. We have just put in place a new Director.. Go Adam!!! and he has already warmed the place up with his compassion and care for these little ones! I am so glad that God has called him to this position.

I have had the opportunity to be back with the children that were in Kindergarten when I started two years ago, and continue on with: "Mrs. Shannon's stupid rules.." and "Oh, no! Not another memory verse!.." These kids will always be so special to me. They are sooo smart, and have proven to show that I can teach children. I had them try their hardest to remember old memory verses and bible lessons.. and THEY REMEMBER!!! It is the neatest thing! I couldnt help but take some pride in that if I wasnt here for that bit of time.. they wouldnt know and embrace the fruits of the spirit, and the life of Jesus, and every in and out of the battle of Jericho!!!

I know that in my future endeavors as a public school educator that I wont be able to teach these eternal principles, but for now I can, and I am so enjoying it. Today is my last day to look these precious children in the eye balls and ask them why they are tearing up their napkins, stuffing them in their mouth and pretending to act like a frog.... yep... today is the last day.

My Sleeping, Working. Husband

In the other room, I have a sleeping husband.
I have been pretty irritable lately. I have not been feeling normal, not rested, and not talking and walking with the Lord like I should be. He has been annoying me, but doing his duty as my husband to hold me accountable.
I complain about his ways...
but, I have a sleeping husband in there who loves me.
He is attracted to me, even when I could convince him that he shouldn't be because of extra weight, and other things I will spare you.
He wants his cold, scratchy feet to touch me at night,
and I pull away so I can feel him move closer to find me.. yes, even when he is sleeping.
He talks random things to me while he is sleeping.
I don't answer so I can hear him go:
"HUH, HUH SHANNON?"
It makes me smile.
My sleeping husband is one of a kind
the man that GOD has given me as a gift.
Yet.. I could give you 100 pet peeves of mine that he does faithfully.
I won't mention them...
Sometimes when I think about how much I love him I could cry
because I am a sentimental mushy mess..
other times I am completely unaffected..
But tonight as I think about my sleeping husband,
I feel feelings of warmth and adoration, gratefulness, thanksgiving,
He is THE
sure way to bring out in me my worst,
but often times my best.
My sleeping husband is waiting for my leg to put his scratchy feet against,
I guess I should accommodate.

Dennis and I purchased a camera. I have been waiting for one of these for years! We finally went ahead and did it. I couldn't be any more excited. SO... to show you the difference between my rinky dink camera phone and my new Canon Rebel XSI, here are some former photos matched with the newer ones!

THE OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: It's the Christmas season.

Now that we have our Christmas tree and our decorations up...

It is officially the start of the Christmas season.

Sorry for holding everyone up... but we moved as fast as we could....

This is MY baby Christmas ornament.

My birthday is the day after Christmas... and

this is an ornament that has been up on my tree since...

Isn't she cute, holding the boots so close to her body???

Anyone notice any similarities between the two photos???
Yep! You guessed it: We both have boots in them.
Whenever I am unsure if Dennis is my soul mate, I think about these ornaments..
(Just Kidding.. but it sure does make Christmas special when we pull these neat ornaments out each year)
We love Christmas... I love it for traditions and sweet things we do each year.

A Nice Surprise...

This morning I went ahead and went to school a little early because I had a lot to do, and I couldn't afford the distractions of facebook and my blog house chores. So, I was here at about 9:30 this morning! It was a gorgeous morning. I went in and accomplished much!

At the time that my class was supposed to begin, our normal teacher was not there. We waited awhile, and in walked... Ms. Haskins! Yep!

I don't know if you remember me talking about her, maybe not because it was the middle of the summer when I started this blog, but she was my very first RU professor, and I fell in love with her instantly! She walked in and everyone clung to her to welcome her! Best news is: I get her again this Spring. I can't wait till January to have her as a professor again!

If any of you are wondering... I am doing pretty good in school. I found out today that I got a 90 on my Teacher Observation Project, and I received a 90 on my last test in this class. Of course my grammar class will be at best a "C" because I had a hard time getting to class at the beginning of the semester, but overall I am pretty pleased with my work so far. I am a pretty last minute worker, so it's not too bad. December 17 is my last two exams and I am done!!!!!

I will make it!

Could this be the night?!

Ya know.. It is late. It is 1:50 am. I know you guys are like: "What could you possibly be doing this late?" Well... I am writing lessons plans! As if writing lessons plans that you need are not bad enough, writing lessons plans that you won't actually use is even worse! So, it was getting a little chilly in here, and I decided that I should probably go load up the wood stove to get warm again, and I needed the break anyway....

So I walk outside which is VERY COLD.. and I went on down stairs. (We have to walk out of our house to get to our basement to get wood in the stove! Inconvenient, I know.) So I go down and carefully load up the stove to create the perfect fire. I have plenty of wood and and a knack to manipulate the poker! So, I take my time getting it ready. I create a nice popping fire, close the door, remove the gloves, and walk outside...

It was FLURRYING! It was so beautiful! Ahhh.. I come in and remove the coat, pour me some Soy chocolate milk and look outside again. It seems to me that the sky looks really strange at this late hour. Every year it seems that God slides a little snow on us in the middle of the night that not even the meteorologists see coming, and I just wonder if he might give us an early surprise! Hmm... I could use an extra day to write these dumb lesson plans... God, could you slide that surprise on us tonight???

Something New I like

This something new I like! I am LOVING some hot chocolate lately! It seems I just cannot get enough of it. I don't know what the nutritional content is, which is probably why I love it. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. Or maybe not. But this is a hot chocolate. I asked the nice man at the counter if there is anyway I can get it where it does not burn my tongue, so he lowered the hotness! (Most of my burning of the tongue incidents is from hot chocolate!) So, I had THE PERFECT hot chocolate today! Yumm......

Thanks Erin for the gift card or else I would not have experienced this bit of bliss today!!! Go get you a cup and ask for it at 140 degrees! It is perfect!
