Daniel received a time capsule for his birthday from our friend, Kristin, and Daniel’s older friends Lilah & Jax! It was a super idea, and it is something I am really grateful to have for Daniel. I wanted to let you have a peek inside!
Kristin wrote a letter to Daniel, and then described each item in the box.
I decided to put his unwashed birthday shirt in there so that we could all see how messy he was at 1 year old, when he opens this at 18 years old!
I love that he shares his birthday with such powerful people.
This is the costs of a Coke and a Starbucks coffee!
a lotto ticket (that didn’t win!) boo! :- )
Silly bands
She even haggled with Verizon to get a cell phone demo to put in there. I am SURE that this will look like a dinosaur phone in 18 years!
pictures of their family. . and their kids’ 1st birthdays.
Top U.S. companies.
Other than the Bible below, this TIME magazine was one of my FAVORITE time capsule items. I love it.
In her letter to Daniel, about the Bible, she writes: “One thing is certain, enclosed is the Holy Bible, without a doubt, it will be the ONLY unchanging item in this box. Our God, who before time existed, presently exists, and wil exist in 2029 is unchanging. He will remain forever and ever. His word is powerful, truth, comforting, ever lasting, and freeing. May his word be the only thing that brings you joy, peace, comfort, and life!”
a popular movie
The cost of milk, bread, and eggs!
A CD about Daniel of the Scriptures! (I was so tempted to take this out and let Daniel listen to it!) I may still. . . :-)
The Bollings’ favorite YouTube videos!
A nickel with his birth year on it
and a newspaper dated January 17, 2012.
It was an awesome box! To add to it, I added some personal things from Daniel’s first year of life to look back on at his 18th birthday party.
his first invitation to a birthday party! Sweet girl, Kate.
a card from his baby dedication.
a self describing bib!
a card that I love (from Allison Ward)
A couple photo booth pictures!
And lastly, his (eaten by the dumb dog) first pacifier that I kept! :-)
Kristin,
Thank you for your graciousness and thoughtfulness in putting together the box. My prayer, also, is that you will still be with us when he opens that up in 17 years!!
