Kate sat down with Daniel and fed him some Cheerios, thanks Kate!

IMG_4331

Speaking of Cheerios, meet Cheerio-the-bear. I asked Daniel what he would like to name his bear and he stuffed a few… cheerios… in his mouth!

IMG_4343

Afterwards, we had a picnic!

CUPCAKE TIME…………

IMG_4372

Daniel was one of the ONLY kids who fully finished his cupcake.

(I let him have a cupcake because it was a birthday party. With that said, I have just about about cut away all of his extra snacking and a lot of his fruit intake in hopes that he will “forget” about sweet tastes in his diet and embrace some of the more bland flavors of vegetables! So far it seems to be working!)

Thanks for letting us party with you Lilah & Jax! WE love you guys!

justa' ramblin girl

This happened today. Kolton pushed Daniel around the house (even though he doesn't yet walk) and Daniel pushed Kolton around the house even though Daniel doesn't yet walk. Silly boys.

I am going to ramble just to update you all. We bought a new car. It's bigger. It's nice. We like it. We have to peel the "Clemson" sticker off of the back so people quit asking where AnnaMarie is. AnnaMarie is the former owner of our new to us car. Dennis and I went out on a date on Friday night. It was the most fantastic time I have ever had out with him, to date. It was relaxing, it was nice, and we had a blast. We hung out at Frankie Rowlands for hours, we rode on the back of this little bike buggy, and we both felt bad for the bike boy that he had to haul us both around the block. He talked too much. We giggled the whole time. It rained a little. I am dying to Spring CLEAN this house. I have taken up the desire to sew. I bought a machine, and have convinced a woman in our church I happen to think is pretty awesome to teach me how. (Diane Kees) and am looking forward to us starting this little adventure together. Photography season is coming up. I am getting calls and excited to starting penciling people in my book. It feels right. I have been giving lots of thought to God's sovereignty. It's a mystery to me. My office needs cleaned up, and I need to get organized. I went to the grocery store today and the man behind me was AMAZED that I saved $69.00 at the register. I thought it was cool, too. Glad I got to ramble.

14 months

IMG_3518

It’s been TWO months since this picture was taken! I can’t believe it.

The funny thing about having kids is that TIME SEEM TO ZOOM! I remember when I was a child and it seemed as if I would NEVER grow up! But now, watching him grow, speeds things along. I guess the saying is true that time really flies when you are having fun.

He is still not walking. . but I do FINALLY believe that we are making progress. Quite honestly, I believe that Daniel is scared! He looks really frightened when we try to get him to stand on his own and take steps towards us. He cries a lot and looks simply petrified! But, I make him do it anyway. Another way that we have been encouraging him to walk is letting him hold onto our pant legs as we walk backwards. He seems to do OK with this. Also, when I put him down from my arms or from his high chair, instead of just sitting him down, I place him on his feet as if he were going to walk away. He usually just sits down, but my hope is that one day it will occur to him to just put one foot in front of the other.

He is still not eating that great. I am starting to believe that it’s ALL about texture. If it doesn’t feel good between his fingers, he doesn’t want to pick it up to eat it. What to do about this? I have no idea! This is truly a great source of my concern and frustration!

Now that I have talked about our obstacles, the great news is that Daniel has fully grasped the idea of waving hello, and he knows when to clap without our prompting him to do so. He also will play peek-a-boo ALL DAY long if we let him.

His vocabulary seems to be growing. I think he gets what it means to have a “conversation.” If I say something to say Daniel, he will respond to me even though it’s in another language! :-) He reportedly said: “Daniel” yesterday while I was at a bridal shower. He now says “mama” regularly when calling for me. Of course he still says “DADA!” or “DA!” or “HEYYYY DAAAAAA” and then the infamous and often loud: “HI!” or “HAY!!” The “hi” sounds like a country bumpkin saying it. It’s pretty cute. for “no” it sounds like “dough.” It took me a bit to connect it, but I am pretty sure that is what he is trying to say.

He is a great sleeper, still. Still taking two naps a day. Still nursing twice a day; once in the morning and once at night. I think the night time feeding will disappear this month at some point. He seems to be less and less interested in it. I am completely fine with whatever he wants to do at this point.

Daniel is a sweet, loveable, friendly and funny little boy! We adore him. I apologize for the lack of photos, I have been really lazy about doing that lately!

Off to see (great) Grandma!

Today I took off (alone!) to Eagle Rock to see my Great-Grandma (Virginia). She is 91 years old, and has lived a full, healthy 91 years. We love her dearly! On my way, I took some pictures from inside the car. Enjoy the road to Grandma’s!

I love her older hands, they are so beautiful. I am also in love with her white hair. I am hoping that God blesses me with white locks instead of grey!

These pictures are of the this old church/cemetery that has been there FOREVER!

My great grandad and my grandad is buried here. There are other family members that have a place reserved here as well. Needless to say, it’s special for many reasons.. . not to mention, just so old timey perfect.

It was a blessing to get to spend some (uninterrupted ;-)) hours just visiting and talking with family!

See ya real soon Grandma!
