a (late) 13 month post

IMG_4150

To keep this brief, I will just give the highlights!

Daniel says:

“haaaayyyyyy daaaaaaaaa”

“dog” perfect as could be, but only twice we have heard.

“hah!”

IMG_4123

8 teeth!

IMG_4132

he is not walking yet.

He loves daddy.

He loves mommy.

He DESPISES to be changed.

IMG_4142

he is a lot of fun. He is whinier than I would like.

IMG_4160

He is picky about what he eats.

Does not like green beans. likes chicken nuggets. Sad smile a lot.

IMG_4170

He is typically nursing still twice a day. One in the morning, one before bed at night.

Still taking two naps.

Goes down and sleeps well with rarely a problem.

We have a healthy boy.

IMG_4103

he plays peek-a-boo

he holds his hand out to say “hello”

not a fan of new places. Needs to be held for a bit before being let down.

this was the month for his very first snow!!!

IMG_4117

He doesn’t give a normal clap- but his own version. It’s still a clasped hand movement.

He doesn’t really like to wave hello and goodbye, although he will if he wants to.

He is being “watched” for possible being behind in his gross motor skills. I will get him help if he needs it, but am pretty much TRYING to take it with a grain of salt at this point!

IMG_4089

Now, that is what I am talking about! Lovely snowy day!

IMG_4095

It’s official: We are cruel parents to make our 1 year old sit in snow with no shoes, hat, or coat.

IMG_4097

He’ll live.

12:50 p.m.

IMG_4084

slowin’ down for now. Still hoping for waaayyy more than this! :-)

I am working on a post regarding Daniel’s 13 month. I am thinking it will be less detailed than the first 12, so come back later on this evening!

11:22 a.m.

IMG_4065

The beginning of our first snow.

Expected to be 2-4 inches. I am hoping for triple, but realistically expect to see about half.

Have a great Friday!

By the way, a little boy here turns 13 months old today. More on that later on this evening.

Blast from the cell phone..

I have found that when I really want to take a picture of something, my massive 10 pound camera is no where in arms reach, but, luckily, I tend to have my cell phone with me. . So, going backwards in time.. you will see how loyal my phone has been in weird times… this past year.

I gotta say, the picture above is one of my favorite pictures…

The above picture brings back a grumpy attitude I had at the moment. Daniel had been with us for less than a week, I had not been sleeping, and Dennis comes home from work… and guess what? They both were sleeping… and I was mad. :) fun memories, huh?

mms_picture_4 (2)

It is SOOO difficult for me to remember him this way. I titled this to Dennis: “Our little milk drunk” because this was his restful look after he had just had a meal.

mms_picture_4-2

I THINK I was encouraging him to scoot to his toys??

mms_picture_5-1

when I sent (the above) picture to Dennis, it was captioned: “It’s been one of those type of days”

in this photo he was only a couple of days old…

Well, there is my yearly dose of bad cell phone pictures!

new to phone blogging..

a lesson a day. . .

keeps free editing software away…….:-)

image

This year without really making a resolution. . I did make a commitment to learn how to use Photoshop, one step at a time.

I know, I know… “You call yourself a photographer and you don’t even know how to use Photoshop?!?”

Yes, it’s true. Embarrassing, but true.

I bought it. I even bought a book to learn how to use it, like two years ago! Instead, I have shelved it, and continued to use my ‘free’ editing software.

With that said, I have been feeling unsatisfied with my work lately, and I know that it’s not my camera, I upgraded that last March. I know it’s not my subjects, you all are so beautiful. It’s my INABILITY to use Photoshop!

So, I have cracked open this 677 page manual and I am learning one new thing a night, and watching some tutorials on adobe tv as well. I may not be perfect yet, nor will I ever be, but I am going to try.

Have any fun Photoshop tricks? Share!

Our love day

IMG_4053

In one picture, I have included our Valentine’s Day treats. For me, I received flowers, our infamous card and a one hour massage!

For Dennis, he received a card, and a $20 gift card to grab a healthy lunch at Subway when he wants to shake up his normal lunch.

We don’t make Valentine’s day too seriously, but to receive a love gift for no particular reason at all is super nice. Hope yours was full of love!

fotograf & a resipee

(* don’t flip English majors, that was on purpose!)

the fotograf

today ….. he found had a snack in the hallway.

whatever works.

the resipee

Potatoes O’Brien Casserole

  • 1 package of Ore-Ida Potatoes O’Brien (or you could cut up raw potatoes into cubes, add chopped onions and green peppers to it)
  • 1 1/2 cups of sour cream
  • 1 can of cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup of cheddar shredded cheese
  • salt & pepper

- mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl

- bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for about 45 minutes.

add a layer of cheese on top, then bake until melted.

makes a great side dish, or for a potluck as I did tonight.

My only assumption ….

is that these 3 carrots were misbehaving…

IMG_4041

and needed to be separated from the rest of the class.IMG_4041 (2)

Hmm. What a mystery.

Happy Birthday, Kristin

We had an opportunity to have dinner with Kristin on her birthday this past Thursday. She is a dear friend in our small group. She (luckily) picked one of my favorite places to eat, Chipotle!

IMG_3998

then, she picked one of my, I thought, not so favorite places for dessert, Sweet Frog. (I am not a fan of yogurt, but turns out…. chocolate, frozen yogurt with chocolate candy put inside, isn’t so bad. :- ) of course.

Daniel enjoyed it, too.

Kristin, I hope that you had a fantastic birthday and I am looking forward to celebrating with you and Erin again on our girls night in another whole week!

Great is His Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!

  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
"Great is Thy faithfulness," Lord, unto me!

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Get the Heck Outta Town!

a short clip of Greg & Kyndall opening their gifts

This video is not very steady! I am a terrible videographer, but I was trying to get a small video. Towards the end, Greg was being funny, so pay attention. :-)

My brother, and his wife Kyndall were hired to work for Motorsports Authentics. If you remember, this is the same company (previously Action Performance) that Dennis and I worked for some. . 7 years ago!

Darin, a friend of Dennis’ was hired while we were out there, and has stayed with the company, giving my brother the heads up that there was a job available! To celebrate, I got his family and friends together to see them off properly! Enjoy the pictures!

Thanks to Joanie (in the white) and my grandma (with the cup) for getting everyone signed in. It was a HUGE help!

Zach will be house sitting for my brother in his absence.

IMG_3969

As you can see, I was not always behind the camera. In fact, very little the whole night. I was thankful for Greg to take pictures of his family and friends.

We will miss you both!
